HBCU Fair Will Be Held Virtually on Friday, 2/18

HBCU Fair Set for Feb. 18

The Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Fair will be held virtually from 6-8:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18. Co-sponsored by MCPS and the Montgomery County Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, this event provides an opportunity for students in Grades 8-12 and their parents/guardians to meet with representatives from more than 60 HBCUs and participate in workshops.

Qualified seniors will be able to receive on-the-spot admissions during the event. Seniors must pre-register and complete their applications through Naviance.

“This free virtual event provides students in Grades 8–12 an opportunity to meet representatives from more than 50 HBCUs. Representatives share information and answer questions from students and parents about admissions, financial aid, testing, majors and much more. The event also features a college preparation workshop for middle school students and parents, a discussion on college life, FAFSA completion assistance, scholarship information and more. This event is co-sponsored by Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) and the Montgomery County Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

This year, our keynote speaker will be Dr. Aminta H. Breaux, President, Bowie State University.”

All fair events will be held virtually. For more information, students should see their school counselor and college and career information coordinator or visit the MCPS website here.
