La Pizza is Now Open in Derwood

by MCS Staff

La Pizza recently opened at 17609 Redland Rd in Derwood. The location was recently home to California Bistro and previously home to Hungry Howie’s, a popular pizza chain that operated one of its MoCo restaurants in Derwood for many years.

La Pizza is owned and operated by MoCo resident Ali Zaidi, who has over 30 years experience in the restaurant industry primarily in the Baltimore area. He was recently the mind behind BITES food court in Langley Park, bringing together multiple restaurants like Charley’s Cheesesteaks, Halal the Rice Bowl, Mini’s Pizza, Smoothie Fresh, and La Cantina Bites Bar to form a food hall just across the MoCo border in Prince George’s County.

Zaidi tells us he’s excited to have the opportunity to do good things in MoCo. The menu remains large (seen below) and offers pizza, wings, sandwiches, salads, dinner entrees and more. He plans to add tables to offer the option of dining in, something that hasn’t previously been available at the location. A brand new computer system has also been installed to ensure order accuracy, something Zaidi tells us is very important to him.

The restaurant is still experimenting with the final menu and is open to community input on what they’d like to see offered.

Derwood was not the sole MoCo location of Hungry Howies. There was also a location at Goshen in Montgomery Village. It was a Little Caesars, then Hungry Howies, now I think it’s Boli’s.
