Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to the scene of a crash that left at least one person trapped inside of a vehicle on southbound route 29 Old Columbia Pike, just before Fairland Rd, in Fairland around 10pm on Thursday night.
According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, the collision involved two vehicles with four total patients being evaluated on the scene. One person was extricated after being trapped inside of one of the vehicles involved. Some lanes remain blocked as of 10:45pm.

According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, the collision possibly involves a pedestrian who was changing a tire and was struck by a passing driver. A person is also trapped inside the striking vehicle. At least four patients are being evaluated with most lanes closed on eastbound MD200 (ICC) and cars getting by on the shoulder. Police is asking for assistance in locating a missing 39-year-old man, Christopher Brown. Brown has been missing since Tuesday, April 25th at approximately 11am and was last seen on the 7500 block of Maple Avenue in Takoma Park.
He is a black male, approximately 6’2 and 160 lbs, light skin complexion, mostly bald with an unshaven face. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt over a black long sleeve shirt and dark colored pants. Brown was also last seen driving a 2009 Hyundai Somata with Maryland license plates. Per Takoma Park Police: On April 25 at approximately 5:31 pm on Wednesday, Takoma Park Police responded to the unit block of Hickory Avenue for an auto theft in progress. Arriving officers interrupted four juveniles as they attempted to steal a red Hyundai. The vehicle window was already broken, and the ignition was punched out.
Two of the juveniles jumped into another blue Hyundai, reversed into the red one they were trying to steal, and fled the area making good their escape. The remaining two juveniles attempted to flee on foot but were immediately apprehended by responding officers. They were identified as 14-year-old juveniles who were later released into the custody of their parents.

Almost a year ago, we let you know that Capo Italian Deli will be opening a new location in Cabin John Village. It will be taking over the location that was previously home to Goldberg’s New York Bagels, which closed last year, at 7731 Tuckerman Lane. Capo Deli had its hearing last month with Montgomery County’s ABS for its alcohol and liquor license and a representative from the DC location let us know that the Cabin John Village location should open in “a couple weeks.” Photo of the interior can be seen below.
The Italian delicatessen was previously available for carryout and delivery in Montgomery County out of sister restaurant Brickside Food & Drink (4866 Cordell Ave) in Bethesda. The deli’s first location opened at 715 Florida Ave in NW, DC. Using a a prohibition style speakeasy gimmick, the deli their old school Italian deli as a “front” to it’s back bar. Capo gained attention in the area in the summer of 2020 for their popular “Fauci Pouchy” carryout cocktails. The deli has since opened a Western Market location and has a Tyson’s Corner location coming soon. The menu includes Italian classics like Chicken Parmigiano, Hot Italian Beef, Prosciutto & Provolone, and more.
Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Angely Alvarez, a missing 13-year-old from Gaithersburg. Alvarez was last seen on Monday, April 24, 2023, at approximately 11 p.m., in the 9800 Dockside Ter.
Alvarez is approximately 5-feet, 8-inches tall and weighs 140 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black sweater, grey jeans and black and white sneakers. Police and family are concerned for her welfare.
Per MCPD: Montgomery County Police officers and Maryland National Capital Park Police will be directing traffic and ensuring the safety of attendees and participants during the Olney Days in April 2023.
Event # 1: On Saturday, April 29, 2023, the “Ride Towards Hope” annual tradition, consisting of a 45k, 30k, 10k Family Ride, 5k Run/Walk and a children’s Bike Rodeo, will start between 7 a.m. and 8:15 a.m., at the Oakdale Church parking lot in the 3400 block of Emory Church Road and ends at 10 a.m.
The Montgomery County Planning Board approved the Little Falls Parkway pilot project with four votes for the project and one abstaining, at a work session on Thursday, April 27, 2023. The Board approved reducing the number of lanes between Arlington Road and Dorset Avenue from four to two and incorporating turn lanes, shoulders, a median at the Capital Crescent Trail crossing, and a median between the travel lanes where feasible.
Per Montgomery Parks: The Little Falls Parkway pilot project was initiated in 2022 to study whether two lanes between Arlington Road and Dorset Avenue could accommodate vehicle traffic on this stretch of roadway. To further the County’s Vision Zero goals along the parkway, traffic counts were conducted on Little Falls Parkway between Arlington Road and Dorset Avenue during May, July, September, and December of 2022 and showed the parkway functions well with two lanes of traffic and the traffic calming improves safety for all road users, including pedestrians and cyclists.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a collision involving an overturned vehicle on outer loop I-495 just after the I-270 spur on Thursday, April 27 around 12:45pm. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, two adults were transported to the hospital, including one patient with Priority 2 trauma and one patient with non-life threatening injuries. Drivers should expect residual delays. We will post an update if additional information is available.
