ANNAPOLIS, MD–Governor Larry Hogan today announced the opening of the second application round for Project Restore, an economic recovery initiative that provides financial incentives for small businesses and commercial developers to revitalize vacant retail and commercial space.

Through Project Restore, the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development will administer $25 million in rental and operational grants to new and expanding Maryland small businesses to assist with startup costs and incentivize commercial investment in vacant spaces. Corner Bakery at 1 Grand Corner Ave in Gaithersburg has reopened after temporarily closing for several days due to HVAC issues.

Today, we continue to fulfill the needs and desires of our neighbors with a menu of ingredient-inspired, prepared-to-order food. When you visit our cafe, you’ll see real kitchens in place of assembly lines. You’ll hear the chopping of over 40 types of fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables, and the sizzle of our real panini grill. You’ll see the stove’s open flame and feel the warmth from our ovens working all day long. They’re the traditions we established years ago that we still passionately follow today.”

MCPS

Whether it was a simple shopping trip to the grocery store or a day at the nail salon, she enjoyed spending time with her older sister, mom, and grandmother. She could often be found watching television with her grandfather or spending time with her uncle, with whom she shared a birthday. Due to her armed forces duties, her aunt would come to visit for short intervals at a time, but when she did, Darlie would light up with happiness and spend as much time with her as she could.

Her energy and beautiful smile could bring instant joy to anyone, no matter their situation. She had recently finished 3rd grade and was looking forward to starting summer school before going to the 4th grade in the fall. Her loss was a massive shock to our family. We continue to grieve our loss. We are asking for donations to help cover the cost of Darlie’s funeral as we are still trying to get back on our feet financially due to the pandemic. Any amount you can donate will genuinely be helpful and much appreciated. Any extra funds leftover will be donated to the Animal Humane Society as Darlie was a massive lover of animals.
