Antonio Matarazzo And Chef Matteo Venini Will Bring Neo-Neapolitan Pizzas And Southern Italian Street Food To The New Capital One Center 

Today, Washington, D.C.-based restaurateur Antonio Matarazzo and Chef Matteo Venini announce a fourth location of Stellina Pizzeria to open in Tysons, Virginia this fall at 1610 Capital One Drive at the newly developed Capital One Center. The 4,100-square-foot-space will include an Italian café serving coffee and pastries adjacent to the expected pizzeria dining room and bar, as well a commissary kitchen and an expansive open-air patio.


Education

MCPS Superintendent Monifa McKnight sent out a community message on Thursday that details the school system’s snow day make-up plan. Included were the following changes to the school year calendar:

Three instructional days are needed to be made up for MCPS to reach 181 instructional school days, the minimum required by the state of Maryland


Rockville

Update 2/25/22: Burlington has released an opening date for the upcoming Rockville location on its website. According to the website, the location will open on Friday, April 22nd, 2022.

Back in January of 2021 we let you know that Burlington would be taking over the old Barnes & Noble Location in Montrose Crossing.


Silver Spring

Tropical Smoothie Cafe has opened many new locations in MoCo in the last couple years and their latest location will be at 10141 Colesville Rd, at the Woodmoor Shopping Center, according to a report by Source of the Spring.  It will be taking over the space formerly occupied by Hoover-Fisher Florists.

No opening date has been announced.


Education

The Montgomery County BOE will hold several meetings today, February 24, beginning with a closed session at 1pm. The open session will begin at 3:30pm and include public testimony.

The BOE is expected to take up the school system’s mask policy during the meeting. Earlier this week the Maryland State BOE announced it was lifting its statewide mask policy for public schools, effective March 1, which will allow individual school systems within Maryland to make their own decision on masking requirements.
