Maryland Gov. Wes Moore has directed the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) to immediately develop and implement a pilot program in Montgomery County and Baltimore City targeting youth involved in motor vehicle thefts.
The Montgomery County Commission on Children and Youth has named three recipients of the 2026 Dr. Nancy Dworkin Award for Outstanding Service to Youth, marking the return of the countywide recognition for the first time since 2019.
Join artist Nora Naranjo Morse (Kha’p’o Owenge ([Santa Clara Pueblo]), creator of Always Becoming, and the community that cares for the museum’s ephemeral outdoor sculpture family, to learn about the project’s evolution over the past two decades, and what the future holds.

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) has announced the return of Monster Flash, its decorated Halloween-themed Flash bus, for three free events on Saturday, Oct. 24 and Sunday, Oct. 25.
Several Montgomery County Council committees will meet Monday, October 19, to review proposed legislation and discuss transportation, housing and public safety issues. Agenda items include a bill that would prohibit housing discrimination based on citizenship or immigration status, proposed changes to forest conservation requirements for agricultural land, and the Community Trust in County Employees Act, which would restrict County employment for certain former federal immigration enforcement workers.
