In a state celebrated for its diverse culinary scene, one restaurant stands out as the sole recipient of a prestigious international honor for Italian cuisine. Il Pizzico, a long-standing Italian eatery at 15209 Frederick Rd. in Rockville, Maryland, previously earned a “forchetta” (or fork) from Gambero Rosso, a renowned Italian food and wine magazine. The Planet Aid thrift store and donation center at 5520 Randolph Rd in Rockville is preparing to close its doors, with plans to relocate to a new, nearby space. While the exact closing date is not yet confirmed, the organization expects to cease operations at its current location sometime in September.
Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced that no charges will be filed against Gaithersburg police officers involved in the December 24, 2024, in-custody death of Marvin Salamanca Garcia after an investigation concluded the officers did not commit a crime under state law. (more…)
On Thursday night, a fire erupted in a two-story single-family home in the 1800 block of Dellabrooke Farm Lane, off Goldmine Road in Brookeville. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded with approximately 65 firefighters and multiple units. (more…)
