Maryland President Darryll J. Pines released an update regarding the men’s basketball team on Sunday morning after Kevin Willard accepted the head coaching position at Villanova. Upon the news becoming official, Terps legend Steve Blake chimed in writing, “Tough to see Coach Willard leave. He did a great job and I wish him the best! With that being said. Come enjoy the day at our annual Washington Grove Arts and Craft Festival in a beautiful outdoor setting. This festival highlights local artisans including wood creations, pottery, visual art, household products and so much more. We also have food trucks from El Parente Tacos, El Jeffe Wood-fired pizzas, Bruster’s Ice Cream and beverages from Saints Row Brewery. Bring the whole family because we have a kids activity area too. Pets on a leash are welcome too!

Though it remained open until 2002, The Corner Kick at 18707 N. Frederick Rd in Gaithersburg was the premier sporting facility in Montgomery County from 1984 to 2000. 2000 marked the opening of the Maryland SoccerPlex in Germantown and the Rockville SportsPlex in Rockville, signaling a shift in the local sports landscape.

Route 50, stretching from West Sacramento to Maryland’s Ocean City, carries more than just travelers… it carries a unique piece of highway history. Sometime between the late 1970s to early 1980s, Ocean City officials installed a sign marking the eastern termination of US 50, proudly displaying the distance to Sacramento (3,073 miles) as a nod to the highway’s distant beginning on the West Coast.
