The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Cancels Festival of Lights 2021 at D.C. Temple

by MCS Staff

Due to continuing COVID-19 concerns, the closure of Beach Drive for bridge replacement, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ focus on the Washington DC Temple Open House and Rededication in Spring 2022, the 44th Annual Festival of Lights has been cancelled.

The Temple and Visitors’ Center grounds will not have Christmas lights this year. The Visitors’ Center will remain closed until the Temple Open House in 2022.

The church was originally scheduled to open to the public last year but was delayed due to COVID-19. The temple will now be open to the public from April 28, 2022 through June 4, 2022, except on Sundays.
