Robert Wiedmaier’s Mussel Bar & Grille closed its 7262 Woodmont Ave Bethesda location in April 2022, but we let you know the group planned to bring the restaurant back to a new location in Bethesda in 2024. Now it has been reported that the restaurant’s return to Bethesda will be below Tommy Joe’s, at 4903 Cordell Avenue in Bethesda, according to Robert Dyer.
Bai Kao Thai is now open at 12944-D Travilah Rd in the Potomac Oak Center (Potomac/Travilah). The restaurant is located in the space that was previously home to 98 Cafe and Shanghai Cafe. (more…)
The Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District and Bethesda Urban Partnership are seeking artists for the Signal Box Public Art project. Fifteen signal boxes located throughout downtown Bethesda have been selected for artistic vinyl wraps to adorn the boxes.
The Corner Slice, a mainstay at 7901 Norfolk Ave. in Bethesda, has closed. Readers have noted that the restaurant has been closed for a few weeks and our phone calls have gone unanswered since the start of the month. A sign has now been put in the window stating that Corner Slice is “out of business” according to Robert Dyer.

Small Door Inc., a tech-enabled, membership-based veterinary care provider that operates under the brand Small Door Veterinary, will open its first location in Maryland on Monday, March 18 at its state-of-the-art practice in Bethesda (10253 Old Georgetown Rd).
The Montgomery County Planning Department briefed the Montgomery County Planning Board March 7 on its Friendship Heights Urban Design Study, which analyzed how people experience the existing open spaces and the pedestrian and transit networks in the Friendship Heights community. The study identifies strengths and challenges of the existing public realm as reflected by an urban design analysis and a months-long community engagement process.
Pink Chicken, a children’s clothing company, will be opening its first Maryland location very soon. The company announced the location via social media earlier this month. “Hey, Bethesda, here we come! We are so excited to be opening up a new Pink Chicken store in Bethesda, MD -opening mid March! Montgomery County native Steven Rales won an Oscar for Best Live-Action Short Film as producer of the film, “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar.” Rales was born in Bethesda in 1951. He founded Danaher Corporation in 1984 with his brother Mitchell Rales (part owner of the Washington Commanders and founder of Glenstone), where Steven Rales is chairman of the board.
A fallen tree has closed MacArthur Blvd. closed between Picasso Ln. and Belfast Rd. Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route and significant delays are expected. The tree fell earlier in the day on Sunday.
