There currently a power outage in the area of the Falls Road Golf Course (10800 Falls Rd) on Falls Road in Potomac.  According to Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services Pete Piringer, several transformers blew and the power is currently out in area. There is no fire evident. Currently there is a severe thunderstorm watch issued for Montgomery County until 9pm.

Normandie Farm will hold a goodbye event for Chef Cary and Mr. Kay this Sunday, June 26th. The event will take place from 5:00 – 10:00 pm. It will consist of a Station Cocktail Buffet and Cash Bar with General Admission at $30 per person at the door. “This is an Open Event, No Reservations and Depending on Weather will be Inside & Out!”

Back in January we let you know that Normandie Farm Restaurant, at 10710 Falls Rd in Potomac, announced that the current owners will be retiring and the restaurant will be temporarily closing on June 30. New ownership will be taking over and are expected to reopen the restaurant in late summer.

The grand opening for Roaming Rooster at 11586 Old Georgetown Road in North Bethesda takes place on Tuesday, June 21 at 11am. As part of the grand opening festivities, the first 50 customers will receive a free sandwich of their choice. The Pike & Rose location will be Roaming Rooster’s first restaurant in Maryland and Montgomery County, and 9th overall. The company has also announced plans to open a Gaithersburg location later this year. We’re told an official announcement on the exact location will be made once the previous tenant has completely vacated.

In addition to its famous buttermilk fried chicken sandwiches, the 1,843 square-foot restaurant will also serve homemade frozen custard scoops and hand-spun milkshakes and says it anticipates employing up to 30 people there.


ProShares to Launch the First U.S. Short Bitcoin-Linked ETF on June 21. BITI will offer investors the opportunity to potentially profit when the daily price of bitcoin declines, with the convenience, cost-efficiency, and liquidity of an ETF.

BITI enables investors to conveniently obtain short exposure to bitcoin through buying an ETF in a traditional brokerage account.” BITI is designed to deliver the inverse (opposite) of the performance of the S&P CME Bitcoin Futures Index. It seeks to achieve its objective on each investment day and for no other period. BITI seeks to obtain exposure through bitcoin futures contracts.


Cubasi Bistro, a Cuban restaurant with an existing location in Sterling, VA, is now open at 4710 Bethesda Ave. The restaurant is located on the ground level of The Seasons Apartments in the location that was formerly home to Jimmy John’s. Jimmy John’s closed that location in late 2018.

The menu consists of starters like ham croquettes, empanadas, bacalitos, and more. A variety of sandwiches and sides are on the menu, as well as pork. beef, chicken, and seafood entrees. Diners can also create their own bowls that consist of chicken/beef and salad, rice, beans, plantains, and more. The full menu and photos of a few dishes can be seen below.


Washingtonian released its ‘Best of Summer: Where We’d Have a Drink Right Now’ list that includes “new rooftop lounges, summery cocktails, terrific happy hour deals, and more reasons to raise a glass.” King Street Oyster Bar, which opened a location in Park Potomac this past March, was named ‘Best Oyster Happy Hour.”

Per Washingtonian: All four locations of King Street Oyster Bar—Potomac, NoMa, Leesburg, and Middleburg—offer a top-notch daily happy hour. Dollar oysters, plus a wide array of $7 drinks, are available from 3 to 6:30. (The DC location goes until 7.)

Augie’s Mussel House and Beer Garden is coming to 7747 Tuckerman Ln (Cabin John Village), the former site of Lahinch Tavern, according to Store Reporter.  Augie’s currently has a location at 1106 King Street in Alexandria, VA. In addition to mussels, menu items include a 10-Day Cured & Smoked Brisket Sandwich, Chicken Pot Pie Empanada, Chicken & Waffles,  and Soft Shell Crab.  Opening information has not been announced.

Philz Coffee, located at 7247 Woodmont Avenue in Bethesda, has closed permanently, according to the company website. The coffee shop is also listed as “permanently closed” on its Facebook page. Philz Coffee opened its Bethesda location in December of 2018. DC Area locations in Adams Morgan, Navy Yard, and Ballston remain open.
