Wetzel’s Pretzels has officially begun construction on its upcoming location at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. In May, we shared that the pretzel chain was on the way, with signage posted at the site indicating a fall opening. The timeline has shifted slightly, but progress is now underway after Wetzel’s Pretzels recently received its permit to begin building out the space.

Casa Oaxaca, the Mexican restaurant that opened in the former TacoArepa space at 4905 Fairmont Ave. in spring 2019, has permanently closed.
Three Montgomery County sisters who were recently featured in Essence Magazine say they are working to reclaim land in Potomac once owned by their great-great-grandfather, William Dove, a formerly enslaved man who purchased 36 acres in the late 1800s. According to a press release announcing their efforts, much of that land was later taken from the family through discriminatory practices and eminent domain.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) responded at approximately 8:37 a.m. on Sunday to the 7500 block of Heatherton Lane in Potomac for reports of a kitchen fire with flames visible from outside a two-story end-of-row townhouse. (more…)
