On Saturday afternoon at approximately 3:25pm, the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department responded to a technical rescue situation on the 13700 block of Central Avenue, Largo, at Six Flags America. Park staff worked alongside Technical Rescue units to safely evacuate about 32 riders who were stuck on a ride.

The Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) has charged 25-year-old Tyler Wang’Ombe-Gichuru of Silver Spring with sexually assaulting two children under the age of 10 during a private swim lesson at a community center in Upper Marlboro. The suspect, who was hired by the victims’ family and is not employed by the center, remains in custody without bond as the investigation continues.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced that a Prince George’s County man was sentenced to 10 years in prison and four years of supervised release after a federal investigation by ICE and the DEA found he conspired to distribute fentanyl and possessed a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. The Prince George’s County Department (PGCPD) family is mourning the loss of veteran officer Corporal Tonya Proctor who passed away unexpectedly on June 23, 2025.
The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will close and detour two ramps on I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway) in Prince George’s County as part of a ramp resurfacing project beginning July 6. Work will take place overnight Sundays through Thursdays, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. All work is expected to be complete by the end of July, weather permitting.
