After a four+ year battle with an aggressive form of Medulloblastoma, 10-year-old Kasey Zachmann of Chevy Chase passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, according to the Lilabean Foundation. The community is now raising funds through a SpotFund fundraiser for her funeral and burial.

The sound of basketballs and competition is set to return to Dogwood Park in Rockville, as the “All-In Summer Tour” makes its much anticipated comeback. On Sunday, August 31, from 5 pm. to 8 pm. the event will host a series of intense 1-on-1 matchups at the park’s courts, located at 800 Monroe Street.

George Erotokritos Galiachatos, a pillar of the local business community, has passed away at the age of 89. He was the longtime owner of The Lincoln Charcoal Inn in Wheaton, MD, a beloved local landmark for many years and one of the first restaurants in Maryland to feature indoor charcoal cooking.
