The community is rallying around a Spencerville (between Burtonsville and Olney) woman after her home was completely destroyed in a large overnight fire early Sunday morning, leaving her with a total loss and decades of memories gone. A GoFundMe fundraiser has been stated to help with recovery efforts.
The Roberto Clemente Middle School community in Germantown is mourning the loss of longtime Building Service employee Charles “Charlie” Ellison Jr., a familiar and deeply respected presence at the school for decades. Ellison passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at his home in Germantown. He was 70 years old.

According to the Montgomery County Police Department, officers were called around 7:21 p.m. on Friday, January 2, to the 23600 block of Rolling Fork Way near Damascus after Fire and Rescue responded to a report of a person down and found Prather suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
