The Montgomery County and greater Washington, D.C. restaurant community is mourning the sudden loss of Maurizio Luise, the Director of Operations for Cava Mezze, who passed away unexpectedly just after midnight on November 8, 2025. He was 46 years old. A fundraiser has been created to help his wife and children.

Flavor Hive’s return to Germantown has drawn a massive crowd. By 11:15am, hundreds of people had already formed a line outside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, eagerly waiting to grab a taste of the viral food truck’s famous chip bag meals and custom bowls. Organizers expect thousands of attendees throughout the day as the event continues until 8pm.

Little Beast, the neighborhood restaurant and pizzeria located at 5600 Connecticut Ave NW, is stepping up to support local families in need. The restaurant announced on social media that it will offer free large cheese pizzas to families who present a valid SNAP card, adding a simple message: “If they won’t, we will.”

Germantown’s Shihan Chowdhury, the viral chef behind the hit food truck Flavor Hive, is coming back to where it all started. The Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School and Seneca Valley High School alum will bring his popular creation home for a one-day fundraiser at his former middle school on Monday, November 3, from 12pm-8pm.

Heartbreak has struck the Frederick County and Montgomery County community as the family of 13-year-old TJ Jackson shared on Tuesday that the young athlete has passed away following a sudden medical emergency suffered during a youth football game last Saturday.
