Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have arrested and charged a 17-year-old male with a shooting that occurred on Friday, February 2, 2024, in the 8100 block of Hartford Avenue in Silver Spring.

A Maryland man from Montgomery County pleaded guilty today to assaulting law enforcement during the Jan. 6, 2021, breach of the U.S. Capitol. His actions and the actions of others disrupted a joint session of the U.S. Congress convened to ascertain and count the electoral votes related to the 2020 presidential election.

Captain David Smith, Commander of the Montgomery County Police Department’s (MCPD) fourth district, shared information on Wednesday regarding the arrest of three people (two separate incidents) and recovery of a stolen vehicle.
The Montgomery County Police Department’s (MCPD) 3rd District Commander Jason Cokinos shared on Twitter/X that two suspects that had allegedly stolen merchandise from a CVS on Georgia Ave were caught by officers with assistance from MCPD’s Raven 1 drone.
Eric Turner, 32, of Gaithersburg was sentenced to six years in prison for the death of 20-year-old Shanon Cole, who overdosed in July of 2023 after ingesting a pill he received from Turner. (more…)
A 21-year-old Gaithersburg man is dead following a shooting in Montgomery Village. 20-year-old Oliver Alexis Perez Fierro of Montgomery Village was identified as a possible suspect and the alleged shooter. At approximately 12:15 p.m., Perez Fierro was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Public Safety Headquarters. Police say a mugshot for the suspect is not available.
A Gaithersburg police officer was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after being hit by a fleeing driver involved in two shoplifting incidents on Monday afternoon.
