A warning has been sent out by Takoma Park Police regarding skimming fraud devices after a credit card skimming device was recently located in Takoma Park.

Per MCPD: “Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects who attempted an armed carjacking on December 1, 2023, in the 13600 block of Middlevale Lane in Silver Spring.”
On December 4, at approximately 8:44 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 1100 block of University Blvd for an armed robbery that occurred outside of a bank.

From the Office of Councilmember Laurie-Anne Sayles: Montgomery County Councilmember Laurie-Anne Sayles is calling on Gov. Wes Moore to pardon all incarcerated individuals convicted for non-violent possession of cannabis offenses.
According to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, “In the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, the Honorable John Maloney has sentenced defendant, Scorpio Alexander Stanfield, 33, of unknown address, to 65 years in prison. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), has called on state and federal law enforcement authorities – including the FBI – to investigate a reported bomb threat targeting a Montgomery County, Maryland mosque as a hate crime.
On December 2, at approximately 12:32 am, Takoma Park Police responded to the area of Eastern Avenue and Piney Branch Road for an armed robbery that had just occurred.
