La Madeleine in Bethesda Closes Permanently

The Downtown Silver Spring and Pike & Rose locations closed back in 2017, while the Downtown Crown location remains open (we were told there are no current plans to close the location).

Per Montgomery County:

New parking rates at Montgomery County-operated garages, parking lots and street meters in Downtown Silver Spring will go into effect beginning on Monday, Nov. 2, and will be implemented in stages over the course of the month. The Montgomery County Council adopted the parking rates as part of the Fiscal Year 2021 budget process.

Washington Sports Club closed its Downtown Silver Spring location (901 Wayne Ave) permanently, as first reported by Source of the Spring. The gym closed it’s “Bethesda South” location in June of 2020 and redirected members to the Bethesda location in Georgetown Square. We are told that the current “North Bethesda” (technically located in Bethesda) location is offering a promotion that allows you to switch to their club, which is 7.5 miles away. The representative at the North Bethesda location told us that there is currently no plan to close the gym, but parent company Town Sports international filed for bankruptcy in September.
