37-year-old Michelle Gogan of Burtonsville tragically was hit and killed by a driver in the parking lot of the Giant Food store located on the 15600 block of Old Columbia Pike in Burtonsville (Burtonsville Town Town Square) on Thursday. The community is raising funds toward funeral and burial expenses, memorial services, and other costs associated with celebrating Michelle’s life.

Update: According to Montgomery County Police, “At approximately 11:30 a.m., 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel were dispatched to the location for the report of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation has revealed that an adult female was struck by a vehicle at the location and transported to an area hospital where she later died. The driver of the striking vehicle remained at the scene. This is an active and ongoing investigation. More information will be released, including the name of the decedent, following proper notification of next of kin.

Sarah Katherine Magid, a first-grade teacher from Burtonsville, has been charged with distributing fentanyl that led to a victim’s death. Evidence includes text messages between Magid and the victim and reports of drug sales during school hours, with potential sentencing ranging from 20 years to life if convicted.
