Pizza Hut has officially returned to the Briggs Chaney Shopping Center, opening its newest location at the Briggs Chaney Center (13884 Old Columbia Pike). The pizza chain previously had a larger, freestanding location in the shopping center for many years before it closed in 2017. The building was demolished and a new Popeyes restaurant opened in its place in 2021.
Montgomery County Police and DEA agents arrested a Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) first-grade teacher in Burtonsville after an investigation linked her to a fentanyl-related death in Washington, D.C. earlier this year.

Earlier this week, workers at The Apothecarium cannabis dispensary in Burtonsville, Md. and Sweetspot cannabis dispensary in Olney, Md. announced plans to unionize with United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 400 Union.
On Saturday, at approximately 5:52 p.m., 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location for the report of a single vehicle collision involving a motorcycle in White Oak. 30-year-old Christian Ronaldo Guillen, of Silver Spring, was killed in the crash and now the community is rallying to support his family with burial costs and other expenses. As of Tuesday afternoon, just over $1,000 has been raised through a GoFundMe fundraiser.
