Below you’ll see the most recent updates or final scores of the 2023 week 4 MCPS football games. The scores will be updated as we receive them. If a score isn’t listed, it’s because we haven’t yet received a report from the game that we can confirm. An ‘F’ signifies the score is confirmed as being final.

“Please accept this letter as notification that pursuant to $2-151 of the Montgomery County Code the Office of the Inspector General is opening two engagements related to allegations against Dr. Joel Beidleman and Montgomery County Public School’s (MCPS) handling of misconduct complaints. The first engagement is a review of MCPS’s process for receiving and responding to allegations of misconduct against school system employees. Through this review we will assess whether MCPS has effective procedures for the receipt, assignment, investigation, referral, resolution, documentation, and retention of allegations of misconduct by its employees. The second engagement is an investigation into all allegations of misconduct by Dr. Beidleman that have been received since July 2023 as well as any previous allegations that were not yet investigated.
In conducting these engagements, we will inspect relevant records, interview pertinent staff, and review applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Moving forward, my office will work directly with Dr. McKnight and her staff.”

Walter Johnson (3-0) at Paint Branch (2-1): WJ has taken big steps over the last 4 years and this is a great opportunity for the Wildcats to prove themselves and stake a claim for the top seed in the 4A North. Meanwhile PB will be looking for a statement win after falling short against Sherwood. Prediction: Paint Branch by 3
Blake (3-0) at Sherwood (3-0): Congratulations to the Bengals on starting 3-0 for the first time ever! It was a bit expected given the level of competition they’ve played so far, but also a testament to their growth under Coach Marshall. Sherwood will be a big step up for the Bengals, but this should be a good one – Blake tends to play the Warriors tough, and nearly pulled off the comeback upset last year, only to fall on a walk-off Hail Mary. However, Sherwood has exceeded expectations so far this year and based on their performances along with Blake’s not particularly impressive win over Einstein, think they show the Bengals that there’s still a ways to climb. The Montgomery County Board of Education will hold its business meeting on Thursday, September 21, 2023. Closed session will begin at 12:00 p.m. Public agenda items will begin at 3:30 p.m. The meeting will be cablecast live on Comcast Channel 34 (HD 1071), Verizon Channel 36, RCN Channel 89 and the MCPS website.

Stone Mill Elementary School has been selected a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE). The winners were announced on Sept. 19.
Per the MCPS press release: Stone Mill is the 43rd MCPS school to be named a National Blue Ribbon winner. The school was among 313 public and 40 private schools being recognized this year. It is one of six schools in Maryland to win the honor. The others are: Church Hill Elementary School and Matapeake Elementary School in Queen Anne’s County, Northeast Elementary School in Allegany County, Oakdale High School in Frederick County and Smithsburg Middle School in Washington County.
Per MCPS: The National Hispanic College Fair will be held on Friday, Oct. 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Bohrer Park Community Center in Gaithersburg. This annual event sponsored by the National Hispanic College Fair and MCPS for all students is FREE. The fair features over 50 colleges, universities and service organizations committed to providing outreach and opportunities to all students.
MCPS students participate by attending with their schools; this event is not open to the public and is held during the school day. Registration is open until Wednesday, Oct. 11 and permission forms for this event can be found by contacting your High School College and Career Information Coordinator.
