160,000 students will be heading back to school on Monday and more than 900 teachers having been hired by MCPS ahead of this school year. In its staff billetin, the school system also shared that there are 43 new principals (or new to their school). At today’s Board of Education meeting, the authorization will be requested to receive and expend, subject to County Council approval, a Fiscal Year 2025 supplemental appropriation of $2,000,000 for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) to install vape detectors at each high school.
