A.J. Woods, a fifth year corner out of Pitt, signed with the Washington Commanders as an undrafted free agent this weekend. Woods, a Germantown native, was a two-way player at Northwest High School for coach Mike Neubeiser.

Michael Jurgens was drafted in the 7th round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. The offensive lineman was a three-year starter at Wake Forest and part of three consecutive state championships teams under Coach Eric Wallich at Damascus High School.

Stephanie Gomer, teacher at Poolesville High School, has been named Maryland History Day High School Teacher of the Year. She will be honored at the Maryland History Day statewide awards ceremony on May 4.
MCPS hosted nearly 1,000 volunteers, lawmakers and county leaders on April 22 for the Resilience, Education, Action, Climate, Habitat (REACH) Hub groundbreaking ceremony and Earth Day volunteer event at A. Mario Loiederman Middle School.
