On Tuesday, Lakelands Park Middle School principal Rose Alvarez sent a letter to the school community regarding a social media threat that was directed towards four students at the school.

Per MCPS: The Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) 2024-2025 Change of School Assignment (COSA) transfer season is open until Tuesday, April 2, 2024. The COSA process allows families to submit a request for their children to transfer out of their assigned home school. The Montgomery County Board of Education announced on Friday that they have started a nationwide search for the next superintendent for MCPS. Today, the president of the Board of Education has recorded a video message to remind you and our community of the importance of everyone’s feedback in this process. You can see the video here:
The Board is composed of eight members: five elected members, each of whom resides in a different board of education district; two elected at-large members, and one student member. With the exception of the student member, all Board members must be registered voters of Montgomery County and may not be subject to the authority of the Board.
