Kristin King, 35, is an Olney resident and MCPS Special Education (Augmentative and Alternative Communication, AAC) teacher at Beall Elementary School. She was diagnosed with Peripartum Cardiomyopathy just weeks after having a cesarean and a few months later received a heart transplant. Below is the the story of her difficult journey:

Last week we reported that the Montgomery County teacher’s union, Montgomery County Education Association (MCEA), shared with MCPS teachers that Monday, April 22nd was identified as the snow day make-up day for the school system. Phil Barnes, MCPS coordinator of instrumental music and theatre since 2020x has been involved with the Baltimore Ravens marching band since 2010 as a musician, drum major, music arranger and instructional staff member. Since 2022, he has been the mellophone section leader.

The Montgomery County Board of Education has tentatively adopted an Operating Budget for Fiscal Year 2025 that “maintains teaching and learning supports and strengthens accountability, while also being sensitive to the tough economic climate.”

Parkland Middle School Boys Basketball finished the 2024 winter season with a record of 5-1, the best record in the school’s history. Head Coach Brendan Flanagan and Assistant Coach Donald Fleming tell us, “We  are extremely proud of the whole team and the hard work they put into this year!”

Hundreds of students packed the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) College Fair earlier this month to meet representatives from more than 50 HBCUs and organizations. Students in Grades 8-12 picked up information on admissions, financial aid, testing and majors.
