The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) released a statement welcoming a federal judge’s decision for its lawsuit against MCPS to proceed. U.S. District Judge Lydia Kay Griggsby has ruled that certain claims within the lawsuit alleging violations of teachers’ First Amendment rights may proceed, while dismissing the employment discrimination claims.

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is conducting a major boundary study in light of new developments and expansions within the school district. The study is driven by the upcoming openings of Crown High School and Woodward High School, as well as the planned expansion of Damascus High School. MCPS has announced that the boundary survey will be closing soon and is urging stakeholders to participate, as the outcomes could directly affect where students will attend school.

The annual Drive for Supplies distribution event is set to take place at Parkland Middle School (4610 W Frankfort Dr. Rockville, MD) on Thursday, July 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., or while supplies last. This event offers families the opportunity to pick up new and gently used school supplies.

The supplies have been collected and donated by Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) students and staff as they cleaned out lockers, desks, and closets at the end of the school year. The event is hosted by the Division of Sustainability and Compliance.


Kian Dhawan, a student at Montgomery Blair High School, earned a gold medal at the 2025 USA Biolympiad National Finals held at Harvard University, placing him among the top four students who will represent the United States at the International Biology Olympiad in the Philippines. A returning silver medalist, Kian is deeply involved in science competitions and research and is currently conducting cancer biology research at the University of Maryland. (more…)


On July 17, the Montgomery County Council’s Education and Culture Committee will receive a briefing on MCPS academic performance and review grading policy changes, while the Government Operations and Fiscal Policy Committee will review legislation related to internet access service procurement and retirement system eligibility. The discussions will cover the transition to Maryland State Report Card data, updates to grading regulations, and proposed bills affecting County contracting and employee retirement groups.

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is offering free back-to-school vaccinations for children in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade who live in the County and are missing required immunizations. Vaccines are available by appointment at multiple clinic locations through the end of September to help students meet state vaccination requirements for the 2025–2026 school year. (more…)
