Detectives from the Community Engagement Division- Behavioral Assessment and Administrative Unit (BAAU) have charged a 17-year-old student after making threats against a Montgomery County Public School. The specific school was not named by the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).
Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) in Montgomery Village have seen an increasing problem with vehicles illegally parked on school properties overnight, according to the Montgomery Village Foundation (MVF).
Our Lady of Good Counsel (17301 Old Vic Blvd. in Olney) announced in a letter to the community in Tuesday that former MCPS principal Edward Owusu has been named the high school’s next principal. Owusu served as the principal of Clarksburg High School from 2017 until his retirement from MCPS on January 1st, 2024. The full announcement can be seen below:

Sandy Spring Friends School (SSFS), located at 16923 Norwood Rd, Sandy Spring, MD, has announced that the school intends to close following the completion of the 2024-25 school year. The school has been operating since 1961.
Sean Whalen’s career is an inspiring journey that began right here in Montgomery County, MD and led him to the high-energy sets of Hollywood. Born in Washington, D.C. and growing up as the youngest of four in Silver Spring/Olney, Maryland, Whalen’s early years played a pivotal role for the 1982 graduate of Sherwood High School.

The Pitch’s Editor-in-Chief, senior Seyun Park, was named 2025 Maryland Student Journalist of the Year by the Maryland-D.C. Scholastic Press Association (MDCSPA) on March 4, making it the second year in a row that a WJ student has received this honor. Park will be recognized for his achievement at the University of Maryland’s J-Day Conference on April 4 and will go on to compete in the National Journalism Education Association (JEA) Student Journalist of the Year competition as Maryland’s representative.
The Visual Art Center (VAC) at Albert Einstein High School will celebrate its 50th anniversary on Friday, May 16, in conjunction with its annual art show at the school.
