Earlier this week, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) shared that beginning in the 2025–2026 school year, there will be revisions to grading and reporting at the secondary level. The Montgomery County Schools Automotive Trades Foundation recently hosted a DriveSmart safety program at Edison High School in Silver Spring, where over 100 Montgomery County Public Schools automotive students used virtual reality and driving simulators to experience the dangers of distracted and impaired driving. Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) has sent a reminder that beginning in the 2025–2026 school year, there will be revisions to grading and reporting at the secondary level. This will include an update to the calculation of final grades for students in grades 6 through 12 and the school system says that the changes are designed to increase consistency, and strengthen expectations for student learning and accountability across schools (video below).

According to its social media post, the Blair High School branch of Students FAIR (Students For Asylum and Immigration Reform)– Montgomery County student-run organization that advocates for, organizes, and fights for the rights of Maryland immigrant youth and families– has organized a walkout following the deportation of a classmate.

According to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, 18-year-old Nicholas Blanco of Bethesda, a student at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, was sentenced to four years in prison, with all but 11 months suspended, and three years of probation upon release. (more…)


Daniel Stern, best known for his role as Marv Murchins, one half of the infamous “Sticky Bandits” duo alongside Joe Pesci, has deep roots in the Bethesda community. He grew up in Bethesda and attended Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, where he appeared in several theater productions. Although he eventually left school to pursue acting in New York, his early experiences in the local arts scene helped shape his future career. (more…)


Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is actively engaged in a significant boundary study, prompted by the upcoming openings of Crown High School and Woodward High School, as well as the planned expansion of Damascus High School. The school system has sent a letter to the community asking for feedback and stressing that the options presented in the last two weeks were not the final boundaries. The letter can be seen below:

MCPS has shared that a team from Hallie Wells Middle School, under the guidance of science teacher Dustin Deem and with support from the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab, has won the Maryland MESA State Championship. This achievement has earned them a place in the upcoming MESA USA National Engineering Design Competition on June 23.
