The deadline to host a Montgomery County Public Schools Summer RISE student is Friday, March 7, offering businesses, nonprofits, higher education institutions, and government agencies the opportunity to provide rising juniors and seniors with career exploration experiences from June 23 to July 25.

Last year, the Parkland Middle School Boys Basketball Team finished their season with the best record in school history; this year, it was the girls’ turn to shine.
Growing up in Montgomery County, Maryland, Nicholas Sefcik lived in both Damascus and Gaithersburg, where he laid the foundation for his future as an educator and author culminating in his debut book, For The Win!: It’s spOiler Time. Nicholas attended Woodfield Elementary School, Baker Middle School, and Damascus High School, where he thrived both academically and athletically. A notable athlete, he played basketball and football during high school, earning the honor of winning two State Championships in football.

To address spacing needs in the mid-county region, planning and construction was previously approved for the upcoming Crown High School which is scheduled to open in the Fall of 2027. Construction is moving along, with plenty completed but still a lot left to go.
