MCPS recently shared the news of Maya Mourshed, a student at Francis Scott Key Middle School in Silver Spring, who not only shines in STEM subjects but also expresses her passion for science through her writing as a young author. Mourshed recently published her debut book, Chemistories, where she melds her fascination with science and storytelling.

Comedian Mark Curry is coming to town with two shows at Bethesda Theater this Sunday, December 15th. Perhaps best known as the star of the ABC sitcom “Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper” and as one of the various hosts of the syndicated series “It’s Showtime at the Apollo”, Curry became a household name in the 90s. The shows will be at 6pm (dinner & doors at 4pm) and 9:30pm (dinner & doors at 8:30pm), with tickets available here.

Goodreads, the world’s largest site for readers and book recommendations, has released its opening round nominees for the 2024 Goodreads Choice Awards and former Watkins Mill teacher Sara Confino’s novel  Behind Every Good Man has been nominated in the Historical Fiction category.
