Shoppers are invited by a VIP Host Committee – including Sara Azani, Candiace Dillard Bassett, Jess Bruchs, Kim Cruz, Annie Wu Henry, Alencia Johnson, Kimberly Johnson, Dr. Wendy Osefo, Libby Rasmussen, Dani Sauter and Rina Shah – to visit participating stores providing a % of proceeds to the organization. MCPS recently shared the news of Gaithersburg High School hosted a Special Education Prom on May 17. More than 100 students from Watkins Mill, Albert Einstein and Wheaton joined Gaithersburg students in the school café for a catered event, complete with a DJ and dancing.

The City of Rockville’s Hometown Holidays Music Fest takes place from noon-7 p.m. Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26 at RedGate Park (14500 Avery Road) in Rockville. Everclear, the alternative rock band whose career spans four decades and many memorable hits, will headline.

Olney’s Fair Hill Shops shopping center began its summer concert series on May 9th and will continue through September 26th. The concerts take place on the second and fourth Thursday of the month and each day consists of an early concert for kids with a family concert in the evenings. The full schedule can be seen below:

Most people dread seeing their teachers outside of school, but one Watkins Mill High School alumna is looking forward to it this weekend. WMHS graduate Kathryn Bratt-Pfotenhauer will speak as a featured poetry author and in the following block WMHS english and journalism teacher Sara Goodman Confino will be one of the featured authors at the Gaithersburg Book Festival for the second time. Confino will be engaging in a discussion about her book, Don’t Forget to Write, with Sophie Wan, the author of Women of Good Fortune.
