The Montgomery County Agricultural Fair has announced its 2023 dates for this upcoming summer. This will be the 74th annual fair and it’s third year back after having to cancel for the first time in its 70+ year history in 2020 due to Covid restrictions. This year opening day for the MoCo Fair will be on Friday, August 11th and it will go until Saturday, August 19th.

Founded in 1949, the Montgomery County Agricultural Center has been home to the Montgomery County Fair since its creation. Sitting on 62 acres, the Fair has more than 50 buildings that are filled with more than 5,000 animals every year. The Fair has animals, entertainment, food, commercial, home arts, arts and crafts exhibits, and many others for the whole family to enjoy.


Montgomery Parks, part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, celebrates Mental Health Awareness Month “With Parks in Mind,” a free, kick-off event on Saturday, May 6, from 2 – 4 p.m. at Germantown Town Center Urban Park. This event launches the month-long campaign, “Every Mile for Every Mind” a series of walks to encourage people to spend time outdoors hiking a Montgomery Parks trail. These events are coordinated in partnership with local mental health organization, EveryMind.

The City  of Gaithersburg offers two Farmers Markets, providing residents with locally grown produce throughout the year. The variety of fruits & vegetables changes weekly as different crops reach maturity. More on Casey Farmers Market and Main Street Market below:

Casey Farmers Market is held every Thursday, May through November 30, 2023, in the parking lot behind Casey Community Center, at 810 South Frederick Avenue. “The market is open 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Fresh, locally grown produce & eggs. Montgomery Parks, part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, is hosting a free Community Science Festival at Lake Needwood in Rock Creek Regional Park on Saturday, April 29, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Discover the flora and fauna that live in your neighborhood and hone observation skills through interactive demonstrations and hands-on activities with Montgomery Parks scientists and naturalists. Take part in the City Nature Challenge and become a citizen scientist. Attendees will also be able to learn how to get involved with local groups and projects.

The Jolly Shows Carnival will be at the Clarksburg Outlets (22705 Clarksburg Road Clarksburg, MD 20871) from April 19 to April 30.  There will be over 30 attractions, including carnival rides, games, and food wagons. Postponed: April 15, 2023, Shine Brighter Together event re-scheduled due to rain The new date for the event is April 30, 2023, 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

Montgomery Parks, part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, is postponing the Shine Brighter Together event originally scheduled for this Saturday, April 15, 2023, due to inclement weather in the forecast. The Autism Acceptance event will instead be held on its scheduled rain date, Sunday April 30, 2023, 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.at Wheaton Regional Park.


Per MCPS: Mark your calendars for the last car and computer sale of the school year! Students in the Montgomery County Students Automotive Trades Foundation (ATF) and Information Technology Foundation (ITF) will sell used cars and computers they have refurbished from 9–11 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, at Thomas Edison High School of Technology.

The cars and computers are refurbished and reconditioned by the students as part of the students’ classroom and lab studies. The sales provide students with the opportunity to practice their sales skills, earn Student Service Learning hours, and develop an appreciation for community involvement.


One in three teens experience dating abuse. So the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Police, State’s Attorney’s Office, Family Justice Center and MCPS have teamed up for RespectFest to begin discussing what healthy dating relationships look like early on. RespectFest is currently running (April 10-16) with virtual seminars and events running through April 14th. Then the in-person festival will be held on Sunday April 16th from 1-4 p.m. at the Wheaton Community Rec Center and Park. 

The family-friendly event will include activities to learn about dating violence, consent, how to help a friend, what the warning signs are and what the resources are in the community. There will also be performances, FREE food, yoga and self-defense demos, raffle prizes, a resource fair with other community organizations, and story-time at the Wheaton Library.
