On Thursday, Sept. 1, participating Dunkin’ locations will offer a free medium hot or iced coffee for educators. Teachers just have to ask for their free coffee,  with no proof or ID necessary. We have been told that most, but not all, Dunkin’ locations are participating.

Dunkin’ is also holding a sweepstakes to reward select teachers across the country. From September 1 to October 5, customers can submit nominations for Dunkin’s “Raise A Cup to Teachers” sweepstakes. The website to send in names will go live at midnight on Thursday, September 1st.


The 2022 Taiwan Bubble Tea Festival will take place on September 24th from 11am until 4pm at Rockville Town Square. The event is being held by Taiwan Sister Cities, an organization “dedicated to promoting, educating, and fostering intercultural understanding and cooperation among the people of the United States and the people of Taiwan.”

Participating in the festival will be Tiger Sugar Rockville, which recently reopened after a car crashed through their storefront. Bun’d Up, which has a Pike & Rose location nearby. Mr. Wish, which opened last year in Rockville. Bao Bei, which started operating out of a kitchen in Rockville recently. Doki Toki, which recently opened in Downtown Crown, and a lot more.


The 2022 Maryland State Fair started on Thursday, August 25th at the Timonium fairgrounds (2200 York Rd. Lutherville-Timonium, MD). The schedule is different this year, focusing more on weekends by opening Thursdays through Sunday (and on Labor Day) for three consecutive weekends with the last day on Sunday, September 11th (opening hours are available below). Rap superstar Nelly, legendary rock band Styx and country music singers Niko Moon and Lauren Alaina will also be performing at an event called the “2022 Live! ON TRACK! Concert Series at The Maryland State Fair.” The concerts do require separate tickets.

“We are pleased to host the full Maryland State Fair this summer with thousands of talented individuals and fun-loving fairgoers participating from Maryland’s great cities, towns, farms, mountains and shores,” said Maryland State Fair General Manager Andy Cashman. “Our goal is to provide a variety of safe, enjoyable and educational experiences to help make memories for a lifetime.” The 141st Maryland State Fair will feature the thrills and chills, sights, sounds and aromas of numerous Midway and Kidde Land rides, games, and fun fair food provided by Deggeller Attractions. For those with a more local palate, the Maryland Foods Pavilion, Dairy Bar, and Chesapeake Craft Brew & Wine Garden, will showcase fresh from the farm and Chesapeake Bay food and drinks. Flip Circus is coming to Montgomery Mall for 2.5 weeks starting September 30th and going until October 17th. The show will be located under a large white and red tent that will be set up in the parking lot area near the Old Navy entrance to the mall.

Shows will take place at 7:30pm Monday-Friday, at 12pm, 3pm, and 6pm on Saturdays, and at 12pm, 3pm, and 7pm on Sundays. Tickets are currently available through the FlipCircus website at a $10 discounted rate.


Per Montgomery County Police: President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden are scheduled to visit Richard Montgomery High School on Thursday, August 25, from 4-8 p.m., for a grassroots event. In preparation for the event, please note the following:


Winter City Lights is described as “a magical holiday experience of 1 million twinkling lights spread across 18-acres of an outdoor winter wonderland where it is guaranteed to Winter City snow every night.” It’s coming to 4501 Olney Laytonsville Road in Olney starting November 19th, a couple weeks after Field of Screams.

This will be the largest light show in the Washington DC and Baltimore area. Winter City Lights is one of the most technologically advanced Christmas light experiences in the country. Complete with 14 bonfires, Winter City Lights includes an enchanted 1.5-mile long trail of Christmas lights and displays through the woods, a 52-foot high programmable Christmas lights tree and light show, a 200-foot diameter canopy of Christmas lights, an 8 lane Snow Tubing Ride, s’mores, funnel cakes & more.


After a two year hiatus, the City & the Gaithersburg-Washington Grove Fire Department celebrate the unofficial end of summer with the 84th Annual Labor Day Parade on Monday, September 5, 2022, at 1 p.m. This year’s Grand Marshal is Sue Palka, former FOX5 Chief Meteorologist. Alex Tsironis, also known as “Mr. MoCo” and the founder of The MoCoShow, Taste MoCo & MoCoSnow, joins the parade as Master of Ceremonies.

The parade features an assortment of high school marching bands, dance groups, costumed characters, antique cars & fire engines, equestrian units, clowns, and more, all winding their way down East Diamond & Russell Avenues. Note that participation in the Labor Day Parade by groups or organizations other than City of Gaithersburg officials, departments or committees does not constitute City of Gaithersburg endorsement. Food vendors will be located at Olde Towne Plaza and the parking lot next to the Gaithersburg-Washington Grove Fire Station.


Outdoor Celebration of Western Montgomery County Town is Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022

The annual Burtonsville Day Celebration is back again! The theme of this year is “Discovering East County.” The celebration will take place on Saturday, September 24th at Marilyn J. Praised Library and Community Center (14906 Old Columbia Pike). The parade will take place from 10am until 11am and the festival will begin at 11am until 3pm.
