Olney, meet baseball. Baseball, meet Olney. You all are going to be great friends. Cropdusters Baseball is bringing “Summer Collegiate Baseball With An Olney Vibe.”  Expect silly, family friendly, and something for everyone that’s 2-102 years old. The MoCoShow’s very own “Mr. MoCo” Alex T will be throwing out the first pitch!

Cropdusters Baseball begins its inaugural season with games on Friday, June 10 and Saturday, June 11, with each first pitch scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at “The Barnyard” a.k.a First Responder Field by ServPro at OBGC Park (4501 Olney Laytonsville Road Olney,MD). The park opens one hour before game time for fans to arrive and claim their seating, meals, and beverages! Tickets can be purchased on the team website, and take note: this is a cash free facility.


Coming off of the heels of The Friends Experience, the world of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company will come to life in The Office Experience with set re-creations, original show costumes and props, and opportunities for fans to celebrate their favorite moments and characters from the widely acclaimed television series The Office. Silver Spring Blues Week will return as a mostly in-person, 10-day event from Wednesday, June 8, through Saturday, June 18, concluding with a star-filled lineup for the 13th Silver Spring Blues Festival on June 18. The event is presented by Silver Spring Town Center, Inc. The festival was not held in person for the past two years due to the COVID-19 health crisis.

The Daryl Davis Band will headline an array of other blues artists at the June 18 festival. The lineup will include Patty Reese, Matt Kelly, Sol Roots, the Archie Edward’s Blues Heritage Ensemble. For the Blues Festival, attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs. The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trangender, Queer/Questioning Plus (LGBTQ+) Pride Month is celebrated in the United States to commemorate the Stonewall Riots, which occurred at the end of June 1969. The commemorative month also recognizes the impact LGBTQ+ individuals have had on history—locally, nationally, and internationally. The City of Rockville has issued proclamations declaring LGBTQ+ Pride Month since June 2017.

This year, the City of Rockville’s Human Rights Commission will celebrate the sixth annual Rockville Pride with a virtual event on Sunday, June 5, 2022 and a celebration in Rockville Town Square Park from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, 2022. The World Heritage Festival will take place on June 5, 2022 at Veterans Plaza in Silver Spring (1 Veterans Place) from 1pm – 7pm. This will be a free and in-person event.

White Oak Day will take place on Saturday, June 4th to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the White Oak Community Recreation Center at 1700 April Lane. The event will take place from noon until 4pm.

Per the event flyer: “The White Oak Community Rec center will open its doors to the community. Great for all ages and families. Enjoy music, vendors, food, and fun activities.” Children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult.


Gospel music, the uniquely American art form that gave rise to jazz, blues, R&B, and rock & roll, will be celebrated to the highest as the City presents the 16th Annual Jubilation Day Gospel Concert. On Saturday, June 11, 2022, from 3 to 7 p.m., the Concert Pavilion at City Hall will host performances of all styles of Gospel, Christian & uplifting music by local & regional artists. The event will also feature an acknowledgement of the upcoming Juneteenth Holiday.

This year’s featured performer is The Chosen Vessels, a local group from Pleasant Grove Christian Community Church of Damascus, MD. The group, under the leadership of Nathan Cooper, Jr., was inspired by God to praise his name in song. Their most requested songs, which they have performed throughout Maryland, Virginia & Washington, DC, include “Standing in the Safety,” “What a Fellowship,” “Faith in Jesus Christ,” “I’ve Learned How to Live Right,” and “He Changed Me.”


The City of Gaithersburg offers two Farmers Markets, providing residents with locally grown produce throughout the year. The variety of fruits & vegetables changes weekly as different crops reach maturity. Per the City of Gaithersburg:

The Main Street Farmers Market is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It’s located in the Main Street Park & Pavilion just one block off of Kentlands Boulevard. You’ll find summer fruit & veggies, distilled spirits, eggs, baked sweets, and ready-made meals.


Alex Timbers, a three-time Tony Award-nominated writer and director and the recipient of Golden Globe, Drama Desk, Drama League and Outer Critics Circle Awards, will be presenting at the Jim Henson Pavilion at this year’s Gaithersburg Book Festival. Timbers’ many Broadway credits include “Moulin Rouge!,” “Beetlejuice,” David Byrne’s “American Utopia,” Nick Kroll and John Mulaney’s “Oh Hello on Broadway,” “Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson” and Disney’s “Peter and the Starcatcher.” His latest work is the children’s book, “Broadway Bird.” Alex lives in Times Square with his partner Rebekah and three mischievous parakeets.

The Gaithersburg Book Festival is an annual all-day celebration of books, writers and literary excellence. One of the premier literary events in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, the 2022 Festival is scheduled for Saturday, May 21, at Bohrer Park at Summit Hall Farm (506 S. Frederick Ave.) in Gaithersburg, Md.
