James Lorenzo Greene, 49, of Fairmount Heights, was sentenced in Montgomery County Circuit Court to 23 years in prison for a 2000 first-degree rape in Montgomery Village, identified through a DNA match in a 23-year cold case investigation. He will also serve five years of supervised probation upon release and must register as a sex offender for life.

Officers from the Montgomery County Police Department’s (MCPD) 6th District are currently investigating a stabbing incident that occurred near the 18300 block of Lost Knife Circle in Montgomery Village/Gaithersburg. The call reporting the incident was received by authorities at 9:04 am Thursday morning.

Montgomery County based Team Senshi Karate earned an impressive 15 national medals: 3 gold, 8 silver, and 4 bronze at the 2025 USA National Karate Championships, held July 9–13 in Fort Worth, Texas. They were the only team from Maryland to compete at the event, which brought together over 3,000 top athletes from across the country. The Brink Rd. bridge is scheduled to close for repairs over Seneca Creek later this month, according to MCDOT. The closure is scheduled to start on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 6:00 am, and will take four  days to complete, weather and other operational requirements permitting. The bridge will be closed to all traffic during this project.
