Montgomery Village News recently advised residents to stay aware after multiple thefts from vehicles and the theft of a vehicle, according to published safety data and information pulled from the Montgomery County Police Department website.
Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 6th District Investigative Section, are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 87-year-old Jairo Sandoval, of Montgomery Village.
DMV Empanadas, a regular at local farmer’s markets, opened a brick and mortar location in Olde Towne Gaithersburg back in 2019. Now, the restaurant has plans to move to a new location just a couple miles away.
Per MCPD: “At approximately 12:49 p.m., officers received a call for a man unconscious, near the initial call, in the 18300 block of Lost Knife Cir. Upon arrival, officers located Alan Garnica of Gaithersburg, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Despite lifesaving efforts, Garnica was pronounced dead at the scene.
Animal Control and and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue (MCFRS) crews rescued a dog from a storm drain on Friday, November 11 in the area of Washington Grove Ln and Center St in Gaithersburg. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, responders “removed storm grates, in turn scared dog out of pipe to waiting @mcfrs crew at other end.”
Two La Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang members were sentenced for conspiracy to commit murder in aid of racketeering in connection with their participation in the Weedams Locos Salvatrucha (WLS) clique of the MS-13 gang. Jorge Isaac Argueta Chica, aka Timido and Enano, 23, of Gaithersburg was sentenced last week to six years in prison. Endy Arturo Gaitan Campos, aka Clandestino, 30, of Hyattsville, Maryland, was sentenced yesterday to 10 years in prison.

Last year we let you know that Sportrock Climbing Centers is coming to Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg, taking over part of the space that was previously occupied by Sport & Health (Dave & Buster’s now occupies the other part of the space).
