Weis will close one of its two Gaithersburg locations (16567 S Frederick Ave. in the Walnut Hill shopping center) around Labor Day, a store representative told us this morning.

The Walnut Hill shopping center has seen the grocery store change names relatively frequently through the years, though current plans for the location are unknown.

Fleet Feet in The Kentlands just shared that their store is closing permanently. Here is the message that they included in their announcement:

“Unfortunately, Fleet Feet Gaithersburg will be permanently closing our doors in the next week. We appreciate all of our customers’ patronage and wish we could continue to serve you. However, the economic impact of a multi-month crushing decline in revenue of 90% for the last 90 days has proven to be too much.”

Gaithersburg-based lab awarded $1.6 billion for COVID-19 vaccine.

Novavax Inc. is expected to deliver 100 million doses of their vaccine as early as the end of 2020, according to a press release. They will first conduct a clinical trial with up to 30,000 participants in the fall. Novavax will share their results from a smaller trial conducted in Australia at the end of July.
