Back in May we broke the news of Wawa opening its first Montgomery County location. Back in July we were able to view the Schematic Development Plan submitted for approval for the construction of the new 5,060 square foot Wawa at 405 South Frederick Ave, the old Becraft Antiques location, in Gaithersburg.

Last night at the Gaithersburg City Mayor & Council meeting, Wawa received final council approval. They will still have to get their final site plan approved by the Planning Commission, which is a normal part of the process.

It looks as though CVS will be taking over the old Tommy Joe’s/O’Donnell’s location in the Kentlands (311 Kentlands Blvd).

We spoke with Gaithersburg Councilmember Neil Harris, who told us he heard rumblings of the pharmacy chain’s potential arrival a couple months back. With some light construction having begun inside the building, it looks as if some major changes are coming to the building soon.

Chi-Chi’s also had a Rockville location in Wintergreen Plaza that later became Broadway/Ted’s 355 Diner and is currently Habit Burger and Jersey Mike’s.

They left town nearly two decades ago, but Lakeforest never replaced the restaurant (located across from the old Lakeforest Silver Diner). The vacant location was closed off, but recently the window covers were removed.

The small, family-owned and operated Italian food market has gained popularity for their Italian subs and other products that are prepared from scratch in their kitchen.

In addition to its market, Gemelli’s has a small, casual seating area where you can enjoy subs, calzones, pasta, beer, cannoli, gelato, and more.

While Lord & Taylor has made things difficult with their refusal to close its White Flint store, long after the mall has been demolished, it seems as if they’re ready to play ball when it comes to the redevelopment of the area.
