Ridgeview Middle School in Gaithersburg has added a lactation room for teachers.
As far as we know, it’s the first of its kind in MCPS school.
It looks as though CVS will be taking over the old Tommy Joe’s/O’Donnell’s location in the Kentlands (311 Kentlands Blvd).
We spoke with Gaithersburg Councilmember Neil Harris, who told us he heard rumblings of the pharmacy chain’s potential arrival a couple months back. With some light construction having begun inside the building, it looks as if some major changes are coming to the building soon.
We were told that food will no longer be served after June 30th and that the store will close soon after that.
The Park Potomac location (12525-B Park Potomac Ave) will remain open.
We don’t currently have an opening date for the cupcake spot, but it will be located at 344 Main Street in the location formerly occupied by Capital Investment Management and Dr. Singh (who can now be found at 208 Main Street according to a sign on the door).
They’ll be taking over part of the location that used to be home to Last Mango, Zodiac Grill, Tony and James, 44 Sports Bar and Grill, and most recently Largent’s Restaurant and Bar location (654 Center Point Way).
Bonchon has over 300 locations worldwide, almost 100 in the United States, and two other MoCo locations (Germantown and Rockville).
According to a notice on the door of the old location, 328 Main Street, a permit was issued to Yaho Sushi in January of 2019.
We don’t have any information on when the restaurant may be ready to go, but our best guess would be after the summer assuming changes will be made to the existing layout (though that may not be necessary due to the similar nature of the restaurants).
Kimco is seeking approval for a schematic development plan that would affect the area that’s currently home to Buca Di Beppo, Orange Theory, the post office, and more.
Per the City of Gaithersburg, Kimco is “requesting Schematic Development Plan approval for the redevelopment of an existing surface parking lot and retail strip into a six-story mixed-use building. The plan proposes 245 apartments, 12,125 square feet of commercial space and 576 parking spaces for both residential and commercial use within one building.”
MOD Pizza, which specializes in serving individual artisan-style pizzas and salads “superfast” since 2008, will be opening in the Kentlands later this year. It will be located on Center Point Way, across from Cinepolis, next to the old Healthy Back location.
Cinco De Mayo, a Mexican Restaurant and tequila bar, will be moving in to 640 Center Point Way. It will take over the old Healthy Back location.
The “Superfood Cafe” will be located at 120 Market St., just opposite of the Wine Harvest on the paseo.
They will specialize is açaí bowls, smoothies, fresh juices, and more. They’ll have açaí, pitaya, spirolina, and kale super food bowls, and will offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
As of now we don’t have word on where in the Kentlands it will be located or when they expect to open, but we should have that information in the coming days.
Cinco De Mayo is a smaller, local chain with locations in Westminster, Columbia, and Middletown in Maryland. They also have a West Virginia location in Martinsburg and new Maryland location coming soon to Urbana.
