Niche has released its “2025 Best Public Middle Schools” rankings based on “rigorous analysis of key statistics and millions of reviews from students and parents using data from the U.S. Department of Education.” Maryland has 24 local school systems, which function as its school districts. These include one for each of the state’s 23 counties, plus one for Baltimore City.

A NASA sounding rocket will carry student experiments to suborbital space. The launch is scheduled for Thursday, June 26, with the window opening at 5:30 a.m. EDT. Weather permitting, the rocket may be visible in parts of Maryland and Virginia.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources has reported that 62 white-tailed deer tested positive for chronic wasting disease (CWD) in 2024. This neurological disease affects deer, elk, and moose. In Montgomery County, three deer were found to have the disease, contributing to the ongoing management and monitoring efforts in the region.
