A coalition of 20 state attorneys general, including Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown, has urged the Senate Judiciary Committee to require Kash Patel, President Trump’s nominee for FBI Director, to answer further questions regarding reports of politically motivated firings at the FBI. The letter raises concerns about the potential dismissal of FBI officials involved in investigating the January 6th Capitol riots and calls for greater transparency before Patel’s confirmation vote.

A warm start to Tuesday may make you question the potential ice event that’s headed our way late Wednesday into Thursday, but temperatures are expected to drop as we head into tomorrow with the National Weather Service (NWS) increasing the totals on its latest ‘Expected Ice Accumulation’ map.

Peerless Rockville will commemorate Black History Month with a virtual presentation on February 20 exploring the history and community of Rockville’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, followed by an in-person event on March 13 discussing a 1936 civil rights case in Rockville that contributed to the fight against school segregation. According to the United States Attorney’s Office,  a federal jury convicted Brandon Russell, 29, of Orlando, Florida, of conspiring to attack electrical substations in Maryland as part of a racially motivated extremist plot, which aimed to cause widespread power outages and over $75 million in damages, with sentencing yet to be scheduled. Back in October, Baltimore Police arrested 24-year-old John Callis of Baltimore following the brutal assault that was captured in a viral video of the man assaulting two Washington Commanders fans following this past season’s Ravens/Commanders game. The man was arrested, and today he was sentenced.

This week will start off pretty warm with temperatures approaching 60° on Monday and in the low to mid 50s on Tuesday. The wintry mix we mentioned over the weekend is still a possibility as temperatures quickly cool down Wednesday. There are also signals for potential snow next week, but we’ll get to that if it still looks like a threat later this week.
