While we’ve been focusing on the potential for a larger winter storm on Monday, there’s a chance for a quick burst of snow on Friday afternoon that could have an impact on the evening commute. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Frederick, Howard, and Carroll counties from 1pm-7pm on Friday.
While we think MoCoSnow is the best way to learn about potential winter weather heading our way and how it may impact schools, MCPS goes through a very specific process to make the decision on whether or not to close or delay schools.
The National Weather Service (NWS) stated on Thursday morning that “there is growing confidence that a storm will produce significant wintry weather beginning later this week. Impacts will begin in the Central Plains by late Saturday, the Ohio and Tennessee valleys on Sunday, and the Mid-Atlantic region early next week.” For our area, Sunday into Monday looks likely.
