On Wednesday, Governor Wes Moore, alongside Maryland’s congressional delegation, announced $13.9 million in federal funding to enhance workforce development and postsecondary education for individuals with disabilities in Maryland. On Tuesday, Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced a $27 million settlement with Precision Toxicology to resolve allegations of billing government health programs for unnecessary urine drug tests and offering kickbacks to physicians for referrals. The settlement includes oversight measures, with Maryland receiving $5.7 million and the whistleblower receiving $2.7 million. (more…)


The 2025 Old Farmer’s Almanac is now available everywhere complete with its 2024-2025 winter weather forecast. Winter arrives this year on December 21, 2024 and sometimes brings shoveling, snow blowing, dealing with bad roads, and unbearable temperatures with it. Lately, we haven’t had too much snow to talk about in our area, and this winter, according to the almanac, is expected to be”mild and snowy” for our area (map available above) but differs based on specific location. Below, you’ll see forecasts for the Atlantic Corridor and the Appalachians, which covers all of our area.

In the October 11th Board of Education (BOE) update, the BOE stated that MCPS provided an update saying that the district is on track or doing better than expected with changes associated with the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future– designed to make big improvements in education throughout the state.
