Maryland Gov. Wes Moore announced in September that the state plans to close the Maryland Correctional Institution at Jessup, a medium security prison in Anne Arundel County, by June 30, 2026, citing aging infrastructure, high maintenance costs, and a shift toward more sustainable correctional operations.

Slutty Vegan is officially coming to Washington DC. Founder and restaurateur Pinky Cole announced on social media that a franchise agreement has been signed for a Slutty Vegan location in the District. The restaurant opened its first Maryland location in Baltimore in December 2024.

As 2025 comes to a close, our very own “Mr. MoCo” Alex Tsironis is looking back on a year full of memorable meals across Montgomery County (photos available below). Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown, along with the attorneys general of North Carolina and the District of Columbia, filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Education alleging it unlawfully cut congressionally approved funding for Full Service Community School programs without following required federal procedures.
