Maryland State Police arrested a 24-year-old woman and charged her with first-degree murder and child abuse in the death of her five-week-old infant, whose autopsy showed evidence of trauma. The National Weather Service is tracking a system that could bring accumulating snow to the region early Sunday morning, with most of Maryland and Northern Virginia currently forecast to receive around 2 inches. Updated snowfall projections show a wide range of possibilities depending on how quickly temperatures drop and how the heaviest band sets up.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued its first set of graphics for this weekend’s winter storm, highlighting an elevated risk for accumulating snow across much of Maryland, including most of Montgomery County. The storm is expected to arrive Saturday night into Sunday morning, with the potential for lingering impacts into Monday due to very cold temperatures.

The DC region is watching two separate snow chances over the next several days, beginning with a weak system on Friday and followed by a more organized threat Saturday night into Sunday. Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced new information for consumers eligible to receive payments from a proposed $700 million settlement with Google related to anticompetitive practices on the Google Play Store, with most affected users set to receive automatic payments if the court approves the agreement at an April 30, 2026 hearing.
