Two Maryland Thai restaurants (both in Montgomery County) earned a spot on Eater DC’s most list of “The Best Thai Restaurants in D.C.” While there are many wonderful Thai restaurants in the county, the publication’s recognition highlights the vibrant and authentic flavors available at these two restaurants just outside the nation’s capital.

In a state celebrated for its diverse culinary scene, one restaurant stands out as the sole recipient of a prestigious international honor for Italian cuisine. Il Pizzico, a long-standing Italian eatery at 15209 Frederick Rd. in Rockville, Maryland, previously earned a “forchetta” (or fork) from Gambero Rosso, a renowned Italian food and wine magazine. Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced that no charges will be filed against Gaithersburg police officers involved in the  December 24, 2024, in-custody death of Marvin Salamanca Garcia after an investigation concluded the officers did not commit a crime under state law. (more…)


On Friday, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) released a statement regarding Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s release from custody. In March, while residing in Beltsville, MD, Garcia was deported to El Salvador despite a 2019 court order protecting him from removal and was later held in custody there. Following court rulings, including one by the U.S. Supreme Court, he was returned to the U.S. in June to face human smuggling charges.
