California Tortilla has closed its location at 10721 Columbia Pike in Shoppes of Burnt Mills shopping center in Silver Spring. The restaurant is listed as permanently closed on Google Business and no longer appears on the California Tortilla website.
Dolan Uyghur Cuisine, a highly anticipated addition to the Montgomery County dining scene since we shared the news a few weeks back, is now officially open. The restaurant, which specializes in authentic Uyghur dishes from Central Asia, is located at 20-A Maryland Ave in Rockville, within The Square at Rockville, in the space formerly occupied by Kung Fu Kitchen and Peter Chang Rockville.
TNA Wrestling will make its Maryland debut this week with three events in Baltimore. Attorney General Anthony G. Brown, a multistate coalition, and the U.S. Department of Justice filed a proposed settlement requiring UnitedHealth Group to divest 164 home health and hospice locations in 19 states, including five in Maryland, and for Amedisys to pay a $1.1 million penalty, to resolve antitrust concerns over UnitedHealth’s $3.3 billion acquisition of Amedisys.
Silver Spring Historical Society members have measured the historic acorn gazebo in Acorn Urban Park (8075 Newell St) in Silver Spring, MD, determining it surpasses Oak Hill, Ohio’s recently erected acorn statue, which measures 12 feet in diameter and 15 ½ feet in height, and was promoted as the world’s largest acorn display. Built in 1850 by Silver Spring founder Francis Preston Blair, the structure measures 14.058 feet in diameter and 17 feet ¾ inches in height, exceeding Oak Hill’s by over two inches in diameter and more than two feet in height.
