Antoine Randall, 20, of Boyds, was sentenced to eight years in prison and five years of supervised probation for gross negligent manslaughter and other charges stemming from a 2023 police pursuit in Wheaton that resulted in a fatal crash.
The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD), with assistance from the FBI, Interpol, and El Salvador National Police, arrested and extradited 58-year-old fugitive Jose Mauricio Rivera from El Salvador after over 27 years on the run; Rivera was wanted for attempted murder and assault in a 1997 Silver Spring shooting.
The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is advising residents to report thefts from vehicles or vehicle tampering, remain vigilant during overnight hours, park in well-lit areas, lock doors, remove valuables, and watch for suspicious activity as thefts from autos and auto parts, including Honda airbag thefts, remain a concern. On December 4, 2024, the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) led a multi-agency traffic safety initiative along MD Route 355, focusing on aggressive driving, pedestrian safety, distracted driving, seat belt compliance, and impaired driving. The operation, involving approximately 60 officers, resulted in 382 traffic stops, 165 citations, 330 warnings, 19 repair orders, two impaired driving arrests, and enhanced pedestrian and commercial vehicle safety enforcement efforts. Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 4th District Investigative Section are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Luis Nunez, a missing 33-year-old autistic man.
The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is urging residents to plan ahead and avoid driving under the influence of alcohol or cannabis during the holiday season. To address impaired driving, MCPD has launched a “Holiday Task Force,” running sobriety checkpoints and patrols from November 20 through January 11. (more…)
Montgomery County Police 3rd District officers made multiple arrests and seized weapons, drugs, and $24,000 in suspected drug money during proactive policing efforts on Tuesday night.
