MCPD Investigating Threat Against Montgomery Blair High School

Montgomery Blair sent the following message to the Blair community at 2:19pm: “All students will dismiss at 2:30 today using their regularly scheduled transportation. Students with a 9th period will dismiss to our stadium and shuttles will take them to Eastern MS. They will board buses with middle school magnet students to go home. All athletic programs, clubs, and RecZone are canceled until further notice. Athletic games will be reevaluated at 4:30.” We will provide an update if additional information becomes available.

To maintain a safe environment, we made the decision to dismiss all students at 2:30 p.m. Ninth period students were directed to the stadium until they could be safely transported to Eastern Middle School where they will board buses to go home. As a result of this threat, all after-school activities and athletics have been canceled this evening until further notice. We are working closely with the authorities to investigate the threat and take appropriate measures to ensure the ongoing safety of our school community.

Police and Family Searching for Missing 15-Year-Old Possibly Driving a Silver 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Ziaera Janae Russel, a missing 15-year-old from Germantown. Russell was last seen on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at approximately 11:30 p.m. in the 20200 block of Shipley Terrace in Germantown. She is 5’4″, 205 lbs., with dyed reddish brown hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing black pants and a black zip-up hooded sweatshirt. Russell may be driving a silver 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander bearing VA registration TRY8582.

Concern for Missing 18-Year-Old

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 5th District Investigative Section are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Jose Dagoberto Membreno Orellana, a missing 18-year-old from Germantown. Membreno Orellana was last seen on Thursday, October 12, 2023, on Dovedale Way in Germantown. He is 5-feet, 3-inches tall, 120 Ibs., with black hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black sweatshirt, black jeans, black sneakers and a black baseball hat.

Update: Police Investigating Single Motorcycle Collision

Montgomery County Police are investigating a serious collision that occurred last night on Randolph Rd. According to police, “On Thursday, October 12, 2023, at approximately 7:25 p.m., 4th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of Randolph Road and Glenmont Circle for the report of a single motorcycle collision.

The investigation has revealed that the operator of the motorcycle was traveling westbound on Randolph Rd. prior to Glenmont Circle when the motorcycle collided with the curb for reasons that are still under investigation. As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist was ejected. The adult male motorcyclist, of Silver Spring, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. More information will be released as it becomes available.”

Motorcyclist in Critical Condition Following Collision Thursday Evening

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) and Montgomery County Police responded to a collision involving a motorcyclist on Thursday, October 12 around 7:25pm. According to police, “At approximately 7:25 p.m., MCP officers responded to the area of Randolph Rd. and Glenallan Ave. for the report of a single vehicle collision. The preliminary investigation has revealed that the operator of a motorcycle lost control for reasons unknown at this time and sustained serious injuries. The adult male motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.“

Montgomery County Police tweeted the following at 8:12pm: ‘TRAFFIC ADVISORY – Westbound Randolph Rd. is closed at Glenallan Ave. due to a traffic collision. Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route. Expect significant delays.” We will provide an update if additional information becomes available.

Suspect in Custody After Stabbing Custodian at Silver Spring Metro

According to a report by ABC 7, 38-year-old Daniyom Tesfaye was arrested by Montgomery County Police and charged with assault in connection with a stabbing that occurred Wednesday, October 11 in Silver Spring. Around 5:20pm a Metro contractor was stabbed in front of the Silver Spring Metro Station. Metro Transit Police reported that the victim was stabbed in the arm and sustained serious injuries. According to public safety reporter Cordell Pugh, “Montgomery County 3rd District Officers radioed that the victim had experienced “significant” blood loss and the Officers were able to further control the bleeding when they applied one of their tourniquets.” A suspect is not in custody at this time.

Police Respond to Stabbing at Silver Spring Metro Station Wednesday Evening; Victim Sustains Serious Injuries

A Metro contractor was stabbed in front of the Silver Spring Metro Station on Wednesday, October 11, around 5:20pm. Metro Transit Police reports that the victim was stabbed in the arm and sustained serious injuries. According to public safety reporter Cordell Pugh, “Montgomery County 3rd District Officers radioed that the victim had experienced “significant” blood loss and the Officers were able to further control the bleeding when they applied one of their tourniquets.” A suspect is not in custody at this time.

Armed Carjacking Defendants Who Totaled Stolen Vehicle Sentenced Today in Rockville

According to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, “Today in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, the Honorable Karla Smith sentenced defendant, Zyier Brown, 19, of Washington D.C. to 30 years in prison suspend all but 13 years to serve and five years of supervised probation upon release. On September 28^th, 2023, Judge Smith sentenced a co-defendant, Victor Noel, 17, of Upper Marlboro to 30 years in prison suspend all but 11 years to serve and five years of supervised probation upon release.

Each co-defendant pleaded guilty earlier this year to two armed carjackings and use of a handgun in commission of a crime of violence. This stems from two incidents: the armed carjacking of an Uber driver along the 15000 block of Shady Grove Rd. in Rockville on October 25^th, 2022, and the armed carjacking of a man driving a Toyota Corolla along the 7800 block of Guildberry Court in Gaithersburg on November 14^th, 2022. Immediately after the November 14^th carjacking, the defendants crashed the Corolla following a high-speed police pursuit on I-270.

Suspect Arrested in Connection With Monday’s Shooting in Gaithersburg; Police Asking for Help Identifying Additional Suspects

At approximately 9:55 p.m., 6th District officers responded to the location for the report of shots fired. The investigation has revealed that the suspects arrived at the location in an unknown model white SUV. While the vehicle was traveling in the parking lot, the front passenger fired multiple rounds from the vehicle. The suspects then drove away and left the scene. No injuries were reported. The gunfire struck one apartment and three vehicles in the parking lot. Shell casings were recovered from the scene.

Police Discover Dead Body After Responding to Vehicle Fire in Gaithersburg

Montgomery County Police is conducting a death investigation after an incident that occurred Wednesday morning in Gaithersburg. According to police, “On Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at approximately 9:36 a.m., MCPD and Fire Rescue personnel responded to the 17100 block of Downing Street for a vehicle on fire. The initial investigation has determined that an adult male was located deceased inside the vehicle.

The victim was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, where an autopsy will be conducted to officially determine the cause and manner of death. Preliminarily, no foul play is suspected, and there is no known threat to the public. This is an active and ongoing investigation. Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 5th District Investigative Section are asking for the public’s assistance in locating London Hoes, a missing 27-year-old. Hoes was last seen on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at approximately 10 a.m., in the area of Locbury Ct. in Germantown. She is 5’8, 150 lbs, with brown hair styled in locs, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, black frame glasses, carrying a red backpack
