The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services is seeking volunteers to assist with the annual Point-In-Time Count, an overnight effort scheduled for Wednesday, January 28, to identify unsheltered individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
County Executive Marc Elrich condemned the anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian graffiti that was discovered Friday at Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, calling it an act of hate that does not reflect Montgomery County’s values and reaffirming support for affected communities.
Montgomery County Councilmember Evan Glass introduced Bill 4-26 to create a formal review process for data center applications, citing concerns about environmental, infrastructure, and community impacts following recent proposals such as the Terra Energy project at the former Dickerson Power Plant site.

Montgomery County Councilmember Laurie-Anne Sayles introduced a $1 million one-time special appropriation, co-sponsored by Council President Natali Fani-González and other councilmembers, to help stabilize senior nutrition, homecare, and respite care programs impacted by federal funding cuts.
The proposal is intended as immediate relief for vulnerable residents while maintaining long-term fiscal responsibility and will be considered at a public hearing later this month.
Montgomery County government offices and several county and state services will be closed or operating on modified schedules in observance of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday on Monday, Jan. 19.

Wes Moore announced the appointment of the Honorable Victor Manuel Del Pino to the Montgomery County Circuit Court, elevating a longtime county prosecutor and district court judge to the circuit bench. Judge Del Pino, a lifelong Montgomery County resident, has served as a district court judge since 2019 and previously held leadership roles in the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office. (more…)
